Well, I did say booksplus and here I am featuring not a book, an album that I can't stop listening to at the moment: Rip Tide by Beirut. I love the way brass is used on these songs, perhaps influenced by the fact that my son plays the euphonium (an instrument that appears on three of the tracks). The songs are all memorable too, but you may ask: how did I get hooked on this album? Well, blame You Tube. Every now and then I have a foray onto You Tube, probably starting with something I know I like and then spreading out to things other people seemed to have liked who have similar tastes, plus occasionally a dip into the unknown, exploring genres or artists I don't normally listen to, well, just to be see what they are all about. Rip Tide also has quite an interesting video attached to it on You Tube and videos can sometimes influence music choices. Of course, I always remember the famous spoof by Not the Nine o'clock News: 'nice video, shame about the song', but in the case of Rip Tide I like both!
